Zubsolv
What is Zubsolv®️ (Buprenorphine/Naloxone)?
(ZUB-solv)
Zubsolv®️ is a combination medication containing buprenorphine, a partial opioid agonist, and naloxone, an opioid antagonist. It is used as a medication for addiction treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD) to alleviate withdrawal symptoms and reduce cravings. Buprenorphine helps to suppress withdrawal symptoms, while naloxone deters misuse by precipitating withdrawal if the medication is injected.
Historical context
Zubsolv was approved by the FDA in 2013 as an alternative to other buprenorphine/naloxone medications like Suboxone®️. Its unique formulation allows for faster dissolution and improved bioavailability, offering another option for patients and healthcare providers in MAT for OUD.
Medical formulations
Zubsolv is available as sublingual tablets.
