What is Subs?
Subs is a slang term for Suboxone, a prescription medication containing buprenorphine and naloxone. Suboxone is used as a medication for addiction treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD), as it helps to alleviate withdrawal symptoms and cravings while also blocking the effects of other opioids.
The origin of the nickname Subs comes from the shortened version of the brand name Suboxone. This street name has been in use for some time and is recognized by those familiar with the drug and its use in MAT.
Other common nicknames for Suboxone include Bupe and Oranges.
