What is the FDA (Food and Drug Administration)?
The FDA is a federal agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services responsible for protecting and promoting public health through the regulation and supervision of food safety, tobacco products, dietary supplements, prescription and over-the-counter medications, vaccines, and more.

The FDA is responsible for approving and regulating medications used in MAT for OUD, as well as overseeing the safety and efficacy of these treatments.
